I have the yummiest recipe and have been using it for years. I use metric measures so you’ll have to convert. My measures are pretty loose anyway.
To 350mls( just over half a pint) warm water add 3 teaspoons of yeast granules and a pinch of sugar. Stir and leave to froth. Put about 3 cups of flour into a biggish bowl ( I use a mix of white and wholemeal sometimes) add a teaspoon of salt then add the yeasty water. Stir and then knead into a dough, adding more flour as required. Form the dough into a ball, roll it in a little olive oil then put back in bowl and leave covered in a warm place until doubled in size ( maybe 30 minutes). Push the dough down then spread out on a large baking tray. I make mine a rectangle shape about 2cm ( 1/2 inch) thick.
While dough is rising make the sauce by frying up 1 large onion, chopped and a clove or 2 of garlic until soft. Add a pinch of sugar, one tablespoon of dried oregano and a can of tomatoes. Mash up a bit ( or used prechopped tomatoes) then cook gently until nice and thick.
spread the sauce on the pizza dough then top with grated cheese. Add on any extras that you like. I like to use bacon, sliced kransky sausage, a sprinkle of smoked paprika and a swirl of barbeque sauce. but some precooked shredded chicken with some chopped dried apricots and a swirl of apricot sauce is nice too. or use diced mushrooms, shrimps or whatever else you like. Cook for about 15- 20 minutes at 200 C ( not sure what Fahrenheit would be ? 400F perhaps) This makes a huge pizza. Make less dough for a smaller one.
